  I was a missionary in Alliance when the Ward house was being built in late 1964, serving in that city for about 8 weeks. My companion, Elder Hendrickson and I lived in the old wooden building serving as the Ward house at that time sleeping on the top (third) floor with broken windows in the winter. We awoke many mornings with snow drifted onto the floor. We had a lot of baptism success during that time with six converts. As I recall, we were invited to use the font in a small Baptist church outside of town. I wonder if anyone is still alive who attended in that building.
  After my short stay I was called into the mission home to serve as a traveling missionary with no appartment covering Southern Indiana and Southern Ohio as President Lloyd Mickelsen's assistant in the Great Lakes Mission covering Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.
